Edward Baumann Top Fashion Tips

Dressing as a stylish, modern day man isn’t easy. Fashion constantly changes. The old saying, “I was always taught this way” simply doesn’t apply here. A great example being COAT LENGTH. Just take a look at how long coats are today compared to 15+ years ago. How you look sends a clear message, so it’s easy to see why it’s so important to pay attention to how you dress. Don’t get left behind as style changes.

#1 – It’s ALL About the Fit

A lot of these tips will further emphasize this, but this is the tip that rules above all. It’s is ALL, and always has been, about the FIT! You can have on a $5000 suit, but if it doesn’t fit you might as well be wearing a $100 one.

#2 – The White Shirt

The man in the white shirt rules, controls, and dominates the room. Your white shirt should be a staple of your wardrobe. Now, this isn’t to say that you can’t mix it up with colors and small patterns. But, in general, the white shirt should be your go-to for any suit.

#3 – Shoes Spell Victory or Defeat

You need a nice pair of shoes. Sometimes being the most expensive part of a wardrobe, a good pair of shoes are crucial. This isn’t something that should be skimmed over, because you will get what you pay for. A pair of Allen Edmonds, for example, can easily last 10+ years with proper care, not to mention that they’ll also look amazing while doing it.

#4 – Color Shows Confidence

Color shows confidence! We always encourage our clients to stray away from the basic men’s suit staples and incorporate some color. A guy in a bold, colorful suit or sport coat sends a completely different message than a guy in the standard conservative black. You can incorporate color in ties, pocket squares, sport coats, socks, and the list goes on.

#5 – Never Wear a Tie AND Pocket Square

Just to clarify, we HIGHLY recommend either of these items on their own. Just not together. It’s either one or the other, not to be mix and matched. A colorful pocket square/round goes a long way in giving you that bold, decisive appearance.
